Long-train Wedding Dresses

When a bride has her heart set on an amazing, showy, long train on her wedding gown, it is really tricky to find the right gown with the right length of train in ready-made bridal boutiques – because exactly the right length of train is often the hardest thing to find…! This is because ready-made boutiques don’t allow brides to dictate exactly what length of train they can have, which is often a very important and personal choice.

The length of the train is not only a personal choice, but is also determined by the venue in which the wedding ceremony will be held. For example, if the ceremony is going to be held in an ornate and traditional cathedral, an extraordinarily long and formal train would suit the venue splendidly. There is nothing more divine than the view the congregation have of the bride from behind, her facing the alter with an extravagant, long train behind her. Not to mention how gorgeous the train looks when the bride slowly makes her way up the aisle to her loved one…

Another important factor in deciding the length of the train is whether or not to have the train bustled up at the back of the gown once the formal wedding ceremony is over and dancing begins. There are, in fact, a number of different factors which will ultimately contribute to the decision as to how long a train should be – all of these are often discussed and worked out with d’Italia’s bridal consultants, who have experience in such details.

In the process of custom-making a gown with one of d’Italia’s couturiers, there is no limit on the amount of fittings. This means that a gown can be created in an unlimited number of steps to allow for it to develop in stages – this way, the exact length of train can be adjusted until it is exactly what the bride has her heart set on, and exactly the right length to flatter her and to ensure that she is comfortable with handling it throughout the special day.

d’Italia will make the exact style wedding dress or mother of the bride/groom dress you want, with custom corsetry to fit you perfectly, using the best quality silks and genuine French laces.

Intricately designed and thoughtfully crafted from the finest fabrics. Our Ready to Wear collection offers a selection of beautiful gowns for the romantic bride at heart.
