My (and my partner's) experience with d'Italia was just phenomenal. I called the shop two days ago and said that I was keen on having a "coloured" wedding dress (i.e. not white) and would therefore like to have a simple but customised dress made for me. I was warned that bookings are very popular, but that they might be able to squeeze me in if I come in the next day to show them ideas. I jumped at the chance. My reasoning for being so gung-ho was because I had read so many helpful reviews on the service and the wedding dresses that had been made. In addition, I found the d'Italia website to be a fantastic resource (with regards to how the dresses are made, where the materials are sourced, how long it takes to make the dress, and how much the dresses might cost). In particular, my partner and I were sold by the video on their website. We are total newbs when it comes to anything weddingy (I had never even looked at wedding dress sites until a few weeks ago), and so we really needed to feel comfortable with the fact that we would be helped by experts who had empathy and also theory of mind (i.e. could put themselves in our shoes to know what we wanted). Shuchi looked after us at the shop - she has been our first point of contact so far. She is an AMAZING person, who is able to get a good sense of you and your personality very quickly (high emotional IQ!). She is also confident when you falter, and is appropriately muted when you need to make serious decisions between the two of you. As novices to the wedding dress game, we could not have asked for a better person to take care of us. She was attentive, kind, patient, bubbly, warm and incredibly positive! She was mindful of our budget, and never made us feel uncomfortable about discussing it. In saying that, we never felt like we couldn't have the best dress in the world. My partner found it hard to settle on the colour of our dress, and Shuchi spent an enormous portion of time talking at length with him (and searching the whole shop) for the perfect colour. Boy, was she amazing. After we chose the colour, we were given lace choices, which we found to be a bit mind-boggling (they all look incredible, and it is very hard to choose from so many choices!). Just to warn everyone who visits - you may know exactly what you want, but there are some AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL things in the store! You will feel a bit overwhelmed by choice! But never fear - Shuchi will look after you. She takes your suggestions and helps you to focus and home in on the lace that is perfect for your "look" and shape. I then got a chance to hold the silk and lace to my body in front of a full length mirror to get an idea of what it actually looks like. This is SO important, and made such a difference - you get to see how the silk falls on your body, and how the lace complements your shape. You will feel pretty emotional at this point! Well, I did anyway.Just to jump in at this point and say that you will want to wear a crop bra or something that you don't mind showing off to people while you're doing this, as I had to take off my top and I only had a bra underneath! Yes, that's most likely because I'm an idiot and didn't think ahead. After seeing things on the body, and making final decisions, Shuchi put the costing together. We chose a more expensive lace with Swarovski crystals placed elegantly in the pattern. It took us a while to determine whether we wanted to spend the extra amount to have the "look", and in the end we decided on it because the materials are really high quality and really show it.Just another divergence here - the quality of the materials are top notch. The silks are dyed to the exact colour you want it (if you want a colour!) and the laces are HANDMADE in France. Unbelievable. The detail on some of these laces are just breathtaking, You will seriously be there for a while picking and choosing the perfect lace for you. Finally, Shuchi told us she knew the exact right dressmaker for us (talk about personalised service!). We're so excited to meet Tania soon!!! What a day!!!!!!
